How to Fix Auto-Playing Media and Missing Player Controls in Rise 360

Overview

Rise's Video and Audio blocks come with standard player controls, play, pause, volume, built in, so this issue almost always traces back to one of two things: a block set to autoplay, or a video or audio file embedded through a custom Embed block instead of Rise's native blocks, which puts you outside Rise's built-in controls entirely.

Step-by-step instructions

   Open the Video or Audio block's settings.

   Check whether autoplay is turned on, if the content starts playing the moment the lesson loads with no warning, turn autoplay off.

   Confirm the block's standard player controls, play, pause, volume, are visible and not hidden by a custom style override.

   For audio or video added through an Embed block instead of a native block: open the embedded code and confirm it includes visible pause and volume controls, this has to be fixed in the source, Rise's settings don't apply to embeds.

   If an embed autoplays with sound and offers no way to stop it, that's the most disruptive version of this issue, fix it first.
