Translation is based on the content in your uploaded source file. A11yCheck does not independently verify or correct the source's instructional content, answers, or meaning.
How your files are handled
- Your course and its translations are processed on this server only; no course content is sent to a third-party service.
- Files are kept for this session only: up to 4 hours after the session starts.
- Cancel (one language) stops that language and discards its unfinished output. Your uploaded course and the other languages stay until the session ends.
- End session deletes your uploaded and translated files immediately. If a language is still processing, they are deleted as soon as that step stops; the confirmation tells you which happened.
- When the session expires, files are deleted at the next automatic cleanup, which runs every few minutes.
- Your session stays open while translation is running. While any selected language is waiting or being translated, the 30-minute inactivity timeout does not terminate the running job. Once all selected languages have finished, your session expires after 30 minutes without activity. Activity in the session resets the inactivity timer.
- Download your files before your session expires. When the session ends, your uploaded course and generated translations are deleted from the server. Files you have already downloaded to your computer are not affected.
- Keep this browser tab open until you have downloaded your files. Closing the tab may cause you to lose access to the session and its results, but it does not cancel a running translation. Reloading the same tab may restore access if the session key is still available. A session that has expired cannot be reopened.
- Download links work only with this session's private key and stop working when the session ends.

2. Select Target Languages
Beta: every language listed as available runs a real translation model on this server. Availability here is for testing only: the models' commercial licensing is still under review, and translations are unverified previews. Languages that cannot be selected yet are marked Planned, with the reason. No release date is implied.
3. Review
Course videos are not translated. Every video and its original audio are kept exactly as they are. Speech or on-screen text inside a video stays in its original language, and each language's report lists the videos.
Each language becomes its own editable Storyline project. Languages are translated one after another, and each one can be downloaded as soon as it is ready, so you can start working on it while the next language is translated.
Source accessibility assumption: A11yCheck assumes that the source English course has been reviewed and approved by your organization for accessibility and instructional quality. Existing accessibility information, including authored alternative text and object relationships, will be preserved and translated where supported. Missing accessibility information will not be automatically invented during translation. Translating an approved source does not automatically certify the translated course as accessible. Review the translated course and validate its accessibility before publishing.
Before you publish a translated course:
- Translation review: translations are machine-generated. A qualified language expert must review them before publication.
- Layout review: automated checks flag likely line-break, overflow and overlap problems, but they cannot guarantee every line break or visual arrangement is right.
- Audio and captions: narration is a synthetic voice and captions are machine-translated. Review both.
- Licensing: some translation models and voices used here are not yet cleared for commercial distribution.
- Evidence levels: automated tests, package checks, browser checks and Storyline 360 Desktop validation are different levels of evidence. A passed check is not a Storyline validation.
- Your approval: your organization remains responsible for final linguistic, instructional, legal and accessibility acceptance.
AI narration (Supertonic 3). Narration for is generated by artificial intelligence: a synthetic voice made with the Supertonic 3 model by Supertone Inc. reads the translated script. Each of these languages uses one voice, which may differ from the original narrator, including gender.
The Supertonic 3 model is licensed under the BigScience Open RAIL-M licence (read the full licence). To generate narration with it you must agree to the use restrictions in Attachment A of that licence, reproduced below exactly as written, and require anyone you give the narration to, to comply with them.
